Dean Hainsworth, MD, is director of clinical research for the University of Missouri Institute for Clinical and Translational Science and MU School of Medicine. A professor of ophthalmology, Dr. Hainsworth oversees the clinical research program for the school's faculty members, fellows, residents and students. He also reaches out to departments, industries and investigators who can benefit from participating in clinical research programs, and he is actively involved in clinical research educational activities.
Dr. Hainsworth received a medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and also completed an internship and residency training at Kentucky. He completed a vitreoretinal fellowship at Duke University Medical Center and joined the University of Missouri’s School of Medicine faculty in 1996. Dr. Hainsworth’s research focuses on retinal disease and treatment, especially among diabetic patients.

Noted nutrition researcher Elizabeth Parks, PhD, joined the University of Missouri in 2013 as a professor in the Department of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology, and a professor in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
